Materials Dispatch Coordinator – Seasonal (TFG120)

O’Hanlon Paving Ltd. is looking for an enthusiastic Dispatcher to work seasonally in a full-time capacity for the season. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency of the Materials Ordering process.  You will also ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by receiving and fulfilling all material ordered according to job/project demands.  You will also be working closely with the Materials Trucking Foreman to ensure delivery of products achieved in the most efficient manner with the least amount of conflict.


  • Communication with various Foreman and Superintendents
  • Ordering of various materials through in house and outside suppliers such as cement, asphalt, gravel and oil
  • Solve problems by considering courses of action within the framework of management goals and objectives
  • Oversee and works closely with materials trucking foreman to ensure utilization of fleet efficiently and satisfying our in house customer needs
  • Direct customer complaints to the appropriate department
  • Ensure safety compliance is adhered to at all times in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety and National Safety Council
  • Attend and contribute to weekly safety meetings
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed


  • Some experience in dispatching in the construction/trucking industry will be required
  • Previous experience and proven ability in dealing with individuals at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
  • Well-developed organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to be flexible and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Pleasant & respectful phone manner and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and circumstances,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the capability to manage information and data.
  • Computer skills; proficiency with Excel and Word
  • Must have completed grade 12 or above
  • Ability to work continuously for prolonged periods of time under pressure
  • High attention to detail, strong communication skills and ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends if required
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Valid safety certifications

  • This contract season is expected to run for 4-6 months
  • The position is eligible for paid overtime
