The Fath Group is one of Edmonton’s largest family owned and operated road building contractors, with over 300 employees helping provide products and services throughout Edmonton and area. For over 60 years we have been delivering on large public and private sector projects.

Our division, Brookwood Camps and Catering provides camp accommodation and catering services to our industrial, forestry and construction clients. Our clients work long and hard, and value coming home to a Brookwood camp with amazing food, surroundings and staff. We take pride in providing excellent customer service with safe camp environment, great food and clean facilities.

Our team is growing and we are currently looking for an experienced Human Resources Coordinator.  This position will be based in our office located in west end of Edmonton and report to the General Manager. It is a temporary full time position with 1 year contract (possibility of extension). The successful incumbent will:

  • Comply with all Brookwood Camps and Catering standards, policies and procedures;
  • Work closely with the General Manager in advising and informing of any disturbances or grievances from camp employees
  • Work closely with the senior management team to identify staffing needs and address urgencies;
  • Ensure full cycle recruiting process, including posting ads, conducting pre-screen calls and interviews;
  • Assess and interview candidates for available positions; and making referrals of well-qualified and skillful applicants to the respective department.
  • Consult with managers and supervisors about company policies and procedures;
  • Set rotation schedules of the camp employees in the internal system;
  • Maintain a detailed record of the turnover, and researches and formulates strategies which effectively aid in employee retention;
  • Travel to mobile rig camps and conduct site inspections and employee orientation;
  • Assist and advise managers and team leads with performance and disciplinary matters;
  • Consult with respective managers regarding employee turnover, absenteeism, changes in work settings, employee motivation and recognition, and other employee-related aspects;
  • Responding to general enquiries from associates in a professional manner;
  • Frequently liaison with The Fath HR Team for various HR activities; and
  • Carry out all HR administrative duties such as time sheets entry and employee file updates.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Post-secondary diploma/degree in Human Resources or related discipline is highly desired;
  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in full cycle human resources activities will be required;
  • Minimum 1 years of high volume recruitment experience is required;
  • Previous experience in a camp environment will be an asset;
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license or above, with access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Must be willing to travel about 2-4 times in a month; (mostly same day travel)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in managing employee and company’s information;
  • Familiarity with Federal and Provincial Labor Standards will be required;
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and equivalent HR software such as ADP;
  • Ability to take initiative, think logically and complete detailed work with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with the ability to be flexible to changing priorities;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with little supervision;
